Rochester, New York

With more than 140 festivals each year, 12,000 acres of meticulously-maintained parks, 60+ public golf courses, and more than 100 breweries, distilleries, and wineries, Rochester is so much more than just a city nestled against Lake Ontario.

The third-largest city in New York State, Rochester is home to more than one million people. Offering big-city feels and a vibrant arts and music scene, we’re close to New York City, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. Gorgeous green spaces, bike paths, river paths, and outdoor activities keep the residents busy and happy as they experience the four seasons in all their glory.

Meet Our Volunteers

Suzanne Meyer

As founder of Sirius Change LLC, Suzanne has led organizational change initiatives in the banking, professional, and manufacturing industries for more than 30 years. Community involvement has centered around Grove Place Association as past-president; C4 Center City Community Coalition as one of its founders; and as a leading member of the executive team. She is a founding member of Hinge Neighbors Inc, a community building organization working to empower people in the neighborhood to raise their voice in a way that can be heard. Their present focus is the Inner Loop North Project. Suzanne also serves on the governance committee of the Board of Person Centered Homeless Options and sits on the Evening Out at Home committee of the Rochester Community Foundation.

Randy Morgenstern

Born and raised in Rochester, Randy was away for brief snippets, but the lure and a love for the ROC always brought her home. 14 years ago, she made the commitment to Center City and moved into an owner-occupied building in the historic and charming St. Paul Quarter. Since that time, she’s given thought and energy towards helping elevate our downtown by offering affordable and diverse residences, entrepreneurial business ventures, and supporting entertainment/cultural venues and opportunities for all. Together, we are not through, and Randy has just started.

Kimberly Russell

It’s hard to find a person more excited about urban living than Kimberly Russell Pier. She’s lived downtown for 24 years - 22 in the historic Grove Place neighborhood, and in the newly developed Charlotte Square in the East End for 2. She and her rescue dog, Cookie, have explored nearly every inch of downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods, and love sharing their travels on Facebook.

Kim is a REALTOR, an attorney, and a consultant, blending her diverse experience to help connect people, organizations, and initiatives with opportunity - whether it’s find the perfect abode, making the right community connections, or developing a project. She is involved with C$, the Community Design Center of Rochester, Arts in the Loop, the Grove Place Association, Connected Communities, Exploring Racism Group, Spiritus Christi and Episcopal Sr. Life Communities, and sits on the Community Advisory Committee of the Inner Loop North Project.

Jeremy Cooney

Jeremy is a Rochester-native and a proud graduate of the Rochester City School District. He and his partner, Diane, live in the Capron Street Lofts. Over the years, Jeremy resided across downtown at Tower280, the Michael Sterns Lofts, and in the St. Paul’s Quarter. He is a candidate for the NYS Senate, representing the 56th District (which includes the Center City), and is passionate about creating an inclusive downtown for all.

Kat Kleist

Kat moved to downtown Rochester from Denver, CO in 2019. She’d only visited once, but instantly felt at home and welcomed. For the past year+, she’s lived in the heart of downtown, and has loved every minute of it. While she misses the Rocky Mountains, she loves how accessible Rochester makes all activities. When she isn’t working as a Digital Marketer, she’s running, spending time exploring, or playing with her beloved cat.

Angela Eicholtz

Angela moved to Downtown Rochester three years ago and immediately felt a sense of community in her neighborhood. She moved to Grove Place to be near restaurants and bars, but she stayed because of the people. If she’s not planning a neighborhood get-together, she’s most likely biking along the Genesee River Trail.

Stefanie Schwingle

Stefanie Schwingle is VP of the Washington Square Community Association and the Executive Producer of the annual Movies with a Downtown View. She has lived at the Capron Street Lofts in the Washington Square Neighborhood with her husband, Jason, for 10 years. Stefanie and Jason are also co-founders of MetroPops.

Stefanie holds a degree in Communication and Media from Clarkson University, and has a background in communication, social media engagement, and event planning. Formerly, she worked for the Wegmans corporate offices and the Memorial Art Gallery as an event coordinator.

Jason Schwingle

Jason is President of the Washington Square Community Association (WSCA) and co-founder of MetroPops, while also working for Jetblue Airways for the past 17 years.

Jason initiated the Washington Square Park Neighborhood Association in 2012 - which led to incorporation of the WSCA in 2017. He is looking forward to making transformative changes in the years ahead to clean up, beautify, and make downtown a truly wonderful place to live.
